Develop education policy starting with a foundation of clear, respectful, and open communication
Developing the practices and policies that shape education in the Natick public schools requires effective, respectful communication among the administration, school committee, teachers, families, and students. In my work as a Creative Director for an educational media studio, I spend a significant portion of my time learning to understand education topics from various perspectives and helping stakeholders from various backgrounds align towards a single vision. To make effective policies and practices for our students, we need to operate in a culture of respect, where all invested parties conduct themselves with decorum, engage in active listening, and perspective-taking. And I’m not afraid to change my mind based on evidence and data - if you go into a decision-making process without flexibility, no one wins.
